Fulfilling one of his key election promises, President Donald Trump decided to “get out” of the Paris climate agreement signed by 195 countries in 2015 saying that it gives undue advantage to the world’s leading polluters. This came as a shock to many international leaders, Democrats and climate activists.

Trump falsely accuses India

The largest emitters of Carbon di oxide in the world are China and USA but the false accusations of Trump against India and China shocked many .“China will be allowed to build hundreds of additional coal plants. India will be allowed to double its coal production by 2020. Think of it: India can double their coal production. We’re supposed to get rid of ours.”

Trump also said that the agreement “is less about the climate and more about other countries gaining a financial advantage over the U.S.”

“India makes its participation contingent on receiving billions and billions and billions of dollars in foreign aid from developed countries,” Mr. Trump added, referring to the financing commitments by developed countries.

It will be interesting to see how India will post its official objections to this latest statement of Trump. There is also the likely visit of PM Modi to the US later this month.
