YSR Congress Party senior leader and MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is mad of media publicity. To divert the people’s attention on multi crore scam in the Polavaram project, the CM has taken up his family’s trip to the project site and made it a big event in the media.

Srikanth Reddy came down heavily on Chief Minister for the latter’s failure in addressing the farmers plights. The CM confined to alloting lands to his henchmen in the cabinet meetings and neglected the drought prevailed in the state in last four years.

State registered -62 mm deficit rain fall ever since Chandrababu assumed the office. He also lambasted Irrigation minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao for not concentrating on the projects in Rayalaseema region. It was Rao who staged dharna agaisnt the increase of Pothireddypadu project’s capacity during YSR regime .

The YSR Congress leader also took strong exception to the Chief minister’s claim that agriculture and allied sectors registered double digit growth. He pointed out that paddy was cultivated in the extent of 3.3 lakh acres in Karnataka, 2.38 lakh acres in Telangana and 23 acres only in Andhra Pradesh. The cultivation of pulses, sugarcane, oil seeds and cotton is also on the decline in Andhra.

In the YSR regime, the total cultivation of lands both in Khariff and Rabi was 71.12 lakh acres every year. It has been reduced to 43.50 lakh acres in Kiran Kumar Reddy government and in Chadrababu regime it confined to 59 lakh acres only. The NABARD report has clarified that AP stood at 28th palce in the farmers income and first state in the country in the debts, he added.
