On Wednesday, December 6th, the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, a half charred body of a man was recovered from Rajsamand in Rajasthan, identified as Mohammed Bhatta Sheikh, a migrant labourer, by local police. The deceased who originally hailed from Malda in West Bengal was hacked to death, by an axe before he was burnt.
The most ghastly incident was videographed and circulated. From this the accused was also identified- Shambhu Nath Raigar, a resident of Rajsamand, against whom the police have registered a case under section 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) was arrested on Thursday morning.
The police have confirmed that there are several videos where Raigar is seen making inflammatory and communal statements. In fact, one such video was shot at a temple shortly after the murder where he claims that the murder was done to prevent “love jihad”.
The violence towards Muslims and other minorities is reaching untold levels in many places in the country, especially in the BJP-ruled states and the sheer impunity with which the videos are circulated is astounding.
Every next day these inflammatory speeches are made by openly communal agents who roam around free while trails of violence follows unstopped. Why does’nt the Prime Minister talk about stopping this violence in his ‘Mann ka Baat” speeches to the people of the country?
