Five YSR Congress Party MPs on Friday resigned from their posts from Parliament over their demand for special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned on Friday sine dine.
YV Subbareddy, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, YS Avinash Reddy, V Varaprasad Rao and PV Mithun Reddy submitted their resignations to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. “I hereby tender my resignation of my Lok Sabha seat in the House with immediate effect,” the MPs mentioned in the letter.
They left for Andhra Bhawan to sit on an indefinite hunger strike.
“We do as we say! YSRCP MPs are submitting their resignations today. I challenge @ncbn to make TDP MPs resign and stand united with the people of AP in their rightful demand of special category status for Andhra Pradesh,” YS Jagan tweeted.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan did not take up the no-confidence motion for which the YSR Congress gave 12 notices.
