The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, in its congratulatory message to its ally, the ruling BJP party, described the recently announced Gujarat assembly election result in which the BJP won for a sixth time, as “alpvyap vijay” or marginal victory which was marred by “people’s disapproval.
The message from Nagpur, the headquarters of RSS was loud and clear, though it was quietly delivered to the BJP President,Amit Shah through Ram Lal, the party’s general secretary in charge of organisation, the day after the result .
Abrogation of decency by BJP in Gujarat?
“Decency of language and behaviour and ideological firmness are our identity. Abrogation of decency is inappropriate and unacceptable, and as such it did not get people’s approval”
What has further upset the Sangh is the visible loss of support among the Patidars who are strongly with Hardik Patel. The traders and small businessmen support to BJP was an accepted thing in the past for the growth of the Sangh Parivar in Gujarat, supplying money and also cadres to the Party’s grass roots. This factor was also proved not dependable
RSS also opines that the government’s demonetisation and implementation of the Goods and Services Tax have caused alienated the trader community.
