Turnout at Vizag's YSRCP yatra sends warning bells for TDP

Visakhapatnam, till recently, was bracketed among the weak districs for the YSRCP. Both party insiders and the TDP sources felt while YSRCP was quite strong in Rayalaseema, Prakasam and Nellore, it is equally powerful in Guntur and Vijayawada. The picture in twin Godavari districts is quite unclear.

Pawan Kalyan has considerable influence in these two districts and he played a critical role in the TDP victory in these two districts in 2014. How things pan out in these districts in 2019 is yet unclear as Pawan Kalyan is batting for Jana Sena and is opposing the TDP tooth and nail.

Though Vizag has always been considered a weak turf for the YSRCP, the public response to Jagan’s Padayatra is stupendous and mind-boggling. The turnout is unprecedented and people are braving incessant rains to attend the public meetings addressed by Jagan.

The response in minister Ayyanna Patrudu’s constituency is so huge that the TDP is clearly unnerved. The people came with umprellas and rains coats and braved rains to listen to him. This is being seen as a warning bell for the ruling TDP. For the YSRCP, however, this is truly heart-warming.
