YS Jagan's clever move floors Chandrababu

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s bold and clever move on Kapu reservations has put Chandrababu on the backfoot. YS Jagan knows pretty well that Kapus would be angry with him for sometime but will soon realize that he was being honest and truthful. Once this happens their anger would be turned against Chandrababu Naidu.

It was Chandrababu Naidu, who promised reservations to Kapus. He promised them to include in BC F category and give 5 per cent reservations. But, once he came to power, he forgot the promise. When Mudragada and others tried to remind him, Chandrababu blamed Kapus for Tuni violence and foisted cases on them. They got the police to thrash Kapu supporters. Also, pro-Chandrababu media did not give any coverage to Kapu agitation. Chandrababu also portrayed the Kapus from East and West Godavari as terrorists. It was only Sakshi that gave coverage to the Kapu protests Pro-Chandrababu media gave coverage only when Chandrababu promised BC F status to Kapus.

More interestingly, Chandrababu egged BCs to protest against the Kapu reservation demand. Thus, he pitted one caste against another. Jagan had then said that he was for Kapu reservations, but only with the consent of the BCs. He also promised to double the allocations to Kapus. He came out openly said that he would not make false promises on that. Now, Chandrababu has to either say he would not give reservations to Kapus or say he wouldn’t. Both ways he would have to do lot of explaining. If he says no reservations, he has to tell why he promised reservations in the first place. If he says yes, he has to tell why he could not give reservations all these years.

This is the strategy behind Jagan’s comments. So, he had Chandrababu trapped both ways.
