In a clear evidence of his opposition to special status, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu obstructed YSR Congress Party leaders from participating in state bandh called by the party for special status to Andhra on Tuesday.
Many of the senior leaders were houses arrested in the wee hours and some of are taken into preventive custody before they participated in the dharnas and protests on Bandhu day. Ambati Rambabu, Mustafa Ali, M Venkata Ramana, Janga Krishna Murthy and P Ramakrishna Reddy were among others police arrested.
YSR Congress leaders Roja and Narayana Swamy were arrested in Chittoor and K Ramprasad Reddy , Pratap Reddy and K Venkateswarlu were taken into custody in Nellore district. IV Reddy in Prakasham, MLC K Veerabhadra Swami ( Vizianagaram), Ananta Venkata Rami Reddy ( Anantapur), YS Vivekananda Reddy and Srikanth Reddy ( Kadapa) and G Charita Reddy from Kurnool district arrested.
