To create awareness about the ill-effects of air pollution, nearly 5,300 students from 35 schools in Delhi, on Saturday, December 23rd formed the largest human lungs at the Thyagaraj Stadium in Delhi on Saturday. They set a Guinness World Record by doing this.
To create awareness about air pollution
The event was organized by Lung Care Foundation of India to show the effects of air pollution: pink lungs turning into irreversible black lungs. Through this campaign Lung Care Foundation is also planning to “bring a people movement in which citizens, corporates and children come together to start a new revolution.”
The achievement was appreciated by President Ram Nath Kovind, who extended his warm greetings to the student participants and by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
17 Indian cities in WHO top 20 most polluted list
In the World Health Organisation’s list of top 20 most polluted cities of the world, 17 are Indian cities and towns. A dubious distinction. The pollution level in our metros is already making the air unfit for human consumption. And Delhi tops the list.
