The assembly elections in Gujarat are less than a month away and things seem to be getting shaky for the ruling party which had always enjoyed a solid base in Gujarat where the Prime minister Narendra Modi had successfully won 3 elections. The main cause seems to be at a grass root level where the people themselves want a change from the BJP. The so called “development mantra” which basically clicked for the BJP in other states seems like an empty slogan here.
Development has gone crazy
The Congress realized this when they entered the social media platform with a bang and raised awareness with the slogan: “development has gone crazy.” They now have the support of young leaders like Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mevani and Alpesh Thakor. All of them stand united in having the common purpose of defeating the BJP in these elections.
Jignesh Mevani throws open challenge to BJP
Jignesh Mevani threw an open challenge to Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani to a public debate on development indices in the state. “Let them name the place and fix a time…we are ready,” Mevani told journalists in Delhi.
Assembly elections will be held in Gujarat in two phases – on December 9 and 14. The results will be declared on December 18.
