Gauri Lankesh killers identified-names will be revealed soon, says Karnataka Home Minister

Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy told reporters in Bengaluru on Saturday that the perpetrators of journalist Gauri Lankesh murder will be revealed to the public by the Special Investigation Team in a matter of weeks.

“There is no deadline for the completion of the probe, but it is only a matter of weeks now. Unlike the murders of Dabholkar and Pansare where the probe has stretched on, the Special Investigation Team here has definite clues and knows the identities of those who killed Ms. Lankesh. The process of evidence collection is on,” he said.

A continuous link?

With the analysis of bullets and cartridges in the Karnataka murders matching with the analysis of bullets and cartridges in the Maharashtra murders of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar in 2013 and Govind Pansare in 2015, investigators feel the same group is involved in all the four shootings that have occurred since 2013.

Sources revealed that the SIT has zeroed in on four persons in their probe and some technical data is awaited to remove any remaining doubts.
