FIR against comedy

An image of PM Modi wearing a dog filter and standing at a railway platform was accompanied by the hashtag,#wanderlust. It was a the work of a comedy collective,’All India Backchod’(AIB) and a reference to the frequent foreign tours of the present Prime minister. But this earned the comedians an FIR- the Mumbai police filed an FIR against them for posting a picture of the PM with a ‘snapchat’ dog filter.

The response to this police and state highhandedness was strong on social media. Many defended the freedom of expression of the comedy collective.Some leaders of the Opposition went further and took up the challenge -Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’ Brien on Saturday posted pictures of themselves using the Snapchat dog filter.
