The central government has made it clear, not once but ample times that the Special Category
Status issue is a closed chapter. The TDP government in Andhra Pradesh and the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in particular buried the issue and started talking about special package. And how Chandrababu Naidu twisted his tongue in favour of special package is history.
But surprisingly, the ruling party legislature Modugula Venugopala Reddy is of different opinion. He said he is not ready to accept the obituary to special status. He is firm on his demand that the centre must accord it special status to the state as promised by the Prime Minister. He sought the Prime Minister’s intervention.
The ruling party legislator, who also served as MP when the bifurcation bill was passed in parliament has categorically refused accept the contention of the BJP government at the centre and TDP government in the state that special package is much better than the status. And he made it clear that there is no question of accepting the special package in lieu of special status. However it is not clear whether Modugula made these comments on his own or is it a part of larger script written by Chandrababu Naidu to keep the public in confusion to deceive them later with conflicting statement, is the big question.
