“Today, the times have changed. We need political formations that can protect the secular fabric of the country and take on communal political parties like the BJP. There should be someone to take on political leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah and the kind of language that they use.”

Chemistry with Rahul Gandhi

Talking about his friendship with Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh stressed on the fact that the SP-Congress alliance was a result of the family feud in the Samajwadi party and it will give a message to the people of Uttar Pradesh that a progressive government could return in the State.

“No kaam ki baat”

He took on PM Modi and the BJP and said that their idea of development was incorrect. Talking specifics, he said that electricity was provided 24 hrs in all places including Varanasi, the PM’s constituency. Reminding that Gujarat still did not have a Metro while 4 were built in U.P, he said that PM only talks about his “mann ki baat” but does no “kaam ki baat.”
