The State run media in China, ‘Global Times,’ has lavished praise on ISRO’s world record of launching 104 satellites from a single rocket and said that this feat is worth emulating by many other countries.

“This is perhaps the first widely followed world record India has made in the field of space technology. The Indians have reason to be proud,” state-run Global Times said in its editorial today. It went on to say that the new record is a “hard-won achievement for India to reach current space technology level with a relatively small investment.”

India expenditure on defence more than China?

By achieving this success with a low budget, India has shown the path for other countries, said the Chinese paper. It however went on to say that the share of space technology in the GDP of India was equivalent to that of China but the defence expenditure of India was way higher than China.

“As India’s GDP is about one-fifth to one-fourth that of China’s, the share of investment in space technology in India’s GDP is similar to that of China’s” but “India’s defence budget is about one-third of China’s, a higher percentage of GDP than that of China,” it said.
