The security of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is stepped up following the Communist Party of India (Maoist) threat to “take revenge” on the Chief Minister over the 28 Maoists who were killed by police force in Malkangiri encounter this week.
Currently, Naidu is under ‘Z plus’ category protection and his security detail includes members from the elite National Security Guard apart from AP Police’s Intelligence Security Wing. He has survived a claymore mine attack by Naxals way back in October 2003 at Alipiri gate in Tirumala. In the wake of a threatening letter released by CPI (Maoist) Party, Naidu’s security is further strengthened. Director General of Police, N. Sambasiva rao has also given clearcut instructions to the CM’s Security officials.
The letter threatens to take revenge on the “Malkangiri killings” by targeting the Chief Minister and his son Lokesh. Strangely, Maoist leader Shyam’s letter with the threat of “suicide attacks” is new. This was not the Maoists’ way till now. Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) A B Venkateswara Rao told to media personals that Intelligence department will review the security systems currently in place for the Chief Minister and increase the security accordingly. They are also planning to strengthen the Chief Minister’s security system to protect him from all forms of threats.
