The present tenure of the both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments has not even crossed the half way mark yet. But Chief Ministers of the both the Telugu States have been engaged in sharpening strategies for 2019 elections .And in the process both the Chief Ministers trying to vow each and every community including Brahmins. Probably with a fond belief that though Brahmin community is numerically weak but influential Chandrababu Naidu and K. Chandrasekhara Rao are trying to vow the Brahmin community.
Telangana Chief Minister KCR for instance recently held a hurried meeting with Brahmin leaders wherein he promised to build a marvelous Brahmin Sadan (community building) and other sops. Immediately, after a couple of days Chandrababu Naidu, while inaugurating AP Brahmin Co-Operative Credit Retail Operation in Vijayawada, not just stopped at promising sops but also praised the community to the peak. But, Naidu who promised to provide Rs.500 crores corpus fund for the welfare of the community during his pre poll Padayatra (‘Vastunna Meekosam’)if his party voted to power.
But, in the last two and half years since he came to power, except appointing former chief secretary IYR Krishna Rao as Brahmin Welfare Corporation Chairman, nothing happened. But, the fact remains both the CMS leaving no stone unturned to keep the Brahmin Community (vote bank) unity in good humour.
