Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Dr. N Raghuveera Reddy came down heavily on Centre and the state government saying that they were doing injustice to the state.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday, Raghuveera Reddy said that the Centre had not only cheated the people of AP on special category status but also did not fulfill any promise made in the AP Reorganization Act.
The State is eligible for tax incentives for industries among many other promises made in the AP Reorganization Act, the Congress chief said. Noting that the Centre has granted tax incentives for Telangana districts by declaring nine of the ten districts as backward districts, Raghuveera Reddy said that the Centre has only declared seven districts as backward districts which is a gross injustice to AP.
At a time when the Centre is doing injustice to the state, why is the TD government felicitating BJP leaders, the Congress leader questioned. What benefit Venkaiah Naidu did to the state that the TD leaders are honouring him, he said.
The Congress chief said that the party was ready to support the special category status (SCS Bill) to AP, if the same is introduced in the Parliament. Former union minister Pallam Raju, C. Ramachandraiah, J Gautam and other Congress leaders were present.
