The ruling TDP has just six months to go for 2019 elections. The buzz that is emanating from various quarters is none too encouraging. A resurgent YSRCP is buoyant with the huge response that YS Jagan is getting. There is also a talk that several ministers have realized that there is no future in the TDP and want to desert the sinking ship at the earliest.

So, the leaders are choosing some pretext or the other to leave the party. In many places internal squabbles have reached a crescendo. This is another headache that Chandrababu has to contend with ahead of 2019 elections. The issue of alliance with the Congress is causing disquiet in both AP as well as Telangana. In several districts, the leaders are sending enough indications that if their seat is sacrificed for the Congress, they would not think twice about leaving the party. In many districts, there are more than three claimants and each is issuing an ultimatum to Chandrabau Naidu. They have warned that they would remain in the fray as rebels.

As for the YSRCP turncoats who joined the TDP, they are facing tough times. The loyal TDP leaders are giving them nightmares. Many of the defectors have running fueds ranging over several decades with the TDP leaders. How Chandrababu Naidu will manage these diverse groups and how he douses fires within the party is the big question. Whether he will be able to keep his flock together is the real challenge for him.
