The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan on 21.8.2018, Tuesday revealed that the United Arab Emirates has offered 700 crores for relief and rehabilitation of Kerala flood victims.
Acknowledging the vital role of Keralites, who form a major segment of the population of UAE, the Vice President Sheikh Mohammed said, “The state of Kerala in India is currently witnessing huge floods, the most devastating in a century. Hundreds have been killed, hundreds of thousands have been displaced. Ahead of Eid Al Adha, do not forget to extend a helping hand to our brothers in India.”
Apart from this the UAE would be setting up a national emergency committee which will be chaired by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and will include representatives from UAE’s humanitarian organizations, in consultation with Indian experts in crisis management.
