The TRS government under the stewardship of Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao launched the Kanti Velugu scheme on the occasion of Independence day, in Malkapur, Toopran mandal in Medak district. The government also promised to take up the major task of laying underground drainage system throughout the state.

Speaking to the villagers in Malkapur, the CM said that the Kanti Velugu scheme will provide free eye checkup and spectacles to all the needy. He also offered spectacles to 4 villagers as part of the launch. The Irrigation minister, T.Harish Rao also spoke on the occasion.

Eye camps will be conducted across the state, 180 hospitals(both government and private) have been identified for eye surgeries. 825 teams have been tasked to implement this scheme in the entire state. Eye donation pledges will also be done as part of Kanti Velugu program.
