Sweden home furnishings major, IKEA opened its very first store in the country in Hyderabad on Wednesday, 9.8.2018 and it was a tremendous success.

K.T.Ramam Rao, Industries minister, IKEA group CEO and the first customer, Rajani Venugopal cut the ribbon and inaugurated the facility.

The store is the biggest in the city now, occupying 400,000 sq feet and developed on 13 acres land.

The place was thronged by huge crowds on the very first day itself and had a stampede-like situation.

Permission for IKEA to invest upto Rs 10,500 crore in single brand retail business was given in 2013 by the then Congress government.

In its plan to open 25 stores by 2025, the Swedish giant is now expected to use its experience in Hyderabad.
