A day after the unprecedented public airing/ criticism of the Chief Justice of India’s functioning in the selective allotment of important cases to selective benches by 4 senior Supreme court judges, the country is still reeling under the shock.

While the ruling government said that it will not interfere in the controversy and the matter will be sorted by the Supreme court, the Congress under Rahul Gandhi opined after a consultation with senior party leaders who are also in the bar that the accusations are serious and demanded an SIT to probe the suspicious death of the Special CBI judge, B.H. Loha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s principal secretary, Nripendra Misra on Saturday, January 13th was seen waiting outside the residence of the CJI, Dipak Mishra in New Delhi. However the meeting did not happen as the CJI was busy. On questioning, the Principal secretary said it was a personal visit but the timing was critical.

Timing of the visit is suspect ?

The Congress party questioned the reason for the visit as the BJP had vowed not to interfere in the Supreme court functioning controversy. “As PM’s Principal Secretary, Nripendra Misra visits CJI’s residence at 5, Krishna Menon Marg; PM must answer the reason for sending this special messenger to Chief Justice of India,” the party’s chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted.
