‘Jai Simha’ movie review!

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much awaited ‘Jai Simha’ has hit the screens today. Nayanthara will be seen as the female lead n this KS Ravi Kumar directorial. Releasing during the Sankranti season, the film is bound to have lot of expectations. So, let us have a look over the film.

Story

Narasimha (Balakrishna) works as a driver in Kumbakonam. There he comes across a corrupt police officer and locks horns with him. But, he finds that his ex-girlfriend Gauri (Nayanathara) is that police officer’s wife.

Why did Narasimha come to Kumbakonam? What happened in between Gauri and him? Answers to these questions for the rest of the story.

Performances

As expected, its Balakrishna’s show all the way. He impresses his fans with his powerful dialogue delivery and fights. He dances amazingly and emotes well during sentimental scenes. He is surely a delight to watch for masses and his fans.

Nayanthara gets a good role and shows her acting prowess once again. Hari Priya is okay and Natasha provides the necessary glamour in this flick. Prakash Raj, Ashutosh Rana and others were apt and did their part well. Brahmanadam’s comedy works partly.

Technicians

1. Kalyan spent good amount on this film and the richness is visible. Songs are Chirantan Bhatt are fine and will be liked by the masses. His background score works in key scenes. Cinematography by Ram Prasad is superb and he picturized some scenes very well. Editing is okay as some of the portions in the second half could be trimmed to make the film crisper.

Dialogues and story by M. Ratnam are massy. His story is cliched and his dialogues suit Balayya’s image. Director KS Ravikumar does a decent job with this film. He handled the action and emotional sequences very well though he falters a bit during the comedy portions. His narration has many ups and lows.

Analysis

What would one expect from a Balakrishna’s film? High octane action sequences, powerful dialogues and heavy emotions. This film has all these ingredients and they are even handled well. But the problem arises with the commercial elements inserted in between them. They spoil the flow and mood of this film. The comedy and romantic portions doesn’t impress the audience.

The first half is good but the second half of the film was dragged after an extent. Balakrishna is the biggest asset and elevates the film. His presences is what saves the film from going downhill.

Conclusion

On the whole, ‘Jai Simha’ has few high moments and few dull moments. Had the makers taken care of those dull moments and trimmed them, the film would have been way better than it is now. Nonetheless, the film may attract the viewers and Balakrishna’s fans especially.
