Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party senior leader and MLA Gadikota Srinkath Reddy alleged that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has played an enemy role and obstructed Polavaram project during farmer chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s rule in the united Andhra Pradesh.

“Chandrababu has converted the multipurpose Polavaram project into a contractors’ project for kickbacks and he lacked sincerity as it was he who took to legal recourse when former chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy had initiated the project and got the necessary clearances from the Centre. Chandrababu took over the project from the Centre only to make money for him, his contractors and coterie and the interest of bringing water to Rayalaseema was never shown in any of the measures taken and when his bluff was called on the letter written by the Centre about the irregularities he has changed the tune.” he said while speaking to the media in Hyderabad.

The Rayachoti MLA said that Chandrababu opposed the project as an opposition leader. After coming to power, the CM promoted polavaram as a ‘contractors’ project by awarding works to his henchmen and party leaders.

He wondered why the CM made such comments on Polavaram in the chit chat with media persons and also trying to hide the facts behind the misuse of funds by getting stay orders from the court on project works.
