Telangana JAC Chairman, Kodandaram was arrested by the police early in the morning. A team of police headed by East Zone DCP, Ravinder went to Mr. Kodandaram’s residence in Tarnaka, Secunderabad, at 3 am in the morning. The timing of the arrest was questioned by him and his supporters.

In the argument, the police broke open the doors and arrested Kodandaram. Several JAC activists were picked up by police without notices from various places in the city. Many activists who were coming to the city for the unemployed protest- rally were arrested in the districts.

The Joint Action Committee had planned a rally in the city to protest against the delay in filling up vacancies in the Government from Sundarayya Vignana kendram to Indira Park. The Telangana JAC is demanding that the TRS government must fulfill its promise to provide one lakh jobs.

Opposition parties, people’s organisations and student groups have declared their support to the rally while the police have placed prohibitory orders and also warned that anyone who is seen participating in the rally will be marked. The JAC leaders opined that such police suppression was not seen even at the peak of the Telangana agitation.
