Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat, addressing Swayamsevaks in Jammu said that India is “Hindu Rashtra, our ancestors are Hindus and there is no place for separatism in the country.” He asked the government to deal sternly with those “working on the directions of Pakistan from across the border.”

The visit assumes significance given the fact that neighbouring Kashmir valley, the only Muslim majority state in India, is just returning to some degree of normalcy after witnessing violence and curfew for the last four months. More than 93 people have died and over 13,000 injured in the security forces action against the violent mobs since the unrest began on July 8th.

The rally was attended by prominent BJP leaders and ministers including, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Speaker Kavinder Gupta, Bali Bhagat, Union minister, Dr Jitendera Singh, BJP State President, Sat Sharma, Chander Parkash Ganga, Sham Chowdhary, AG Kohli, Ajay Nanda and others.

Kashmir leaders criticize RSS and PDP’S “puppet regime”

“It is extremely unfortunate that, on one hand, the organizers of such rallies are getting support of the puppet regime and the forces and on the other hand, pellets are showered upon people for holding peaceful protests in Kashmir. This is sheer hypocrisy on part of the puppet regime.”

Commenting on the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement “India is a Hindu Rashtra”, Kashmir’s joint resistance leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik said these are not only words but “all their deeds and actions testify this statement”.

In a statement issued here, the resistance leadership said “We should be thankful to them as they, from time to time, veil off their deceitful face of so-called democracy and secularism and justify our movement. In a Hindu Rashtra only Hindus can live and that is the reason all minorities, particularly Muslims are forced to leave this country.”

They further said that “We cannot live in a country which claims to be the Hindu Rashtra. To safeguard our culture, race, ethnicity and especially our religion, we demand and fight for freedom from India, which has been promised by India itself and accepted by the international community.”
