Many ATMs out of order, bank queues mount

Many people were left high and dry, without “new” denomination notes, money and totally helpless, for the third consecutive day after the government took the sudden decision to invalidate Rs 500 and Rs, 1000 notes. The ATM centres which opened after two days of shut down( Nov 9th and 10th) ran out of cash within 2 to 3 hours and showed “out of order” notices. The automated teller machines (ATMs) were either out of service or have ran out of cash.

Two people die in the chaos that prevailed in ATMs and banks

A 73 year old man collapsed and died in a ATM centre in Mumbai and the another State government employee accidentally fell off from the second floor of a bank in Kerala yesterday amid the stampedes and chaos that prevailed.

Long Queues were also seen outside e sevas and other service centres of GHMC(Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation), with people jostling to pay their house tax, Property tax, electricity bill as the GHMC announced its decision to accept old Rs 500 and Rs, 1000 notes. The Mayor also claimed that the GHMC received a record of Rs. 70 crores in a single day. To continue the positive outcome of this demonetization, the Telangana Government extended the use of old Rs 500/1000 notes for paying public utility bills by another 72 hours.

Centre extends suspension of toll tax on National Highways till November 14, 2016 midnight

With no money available to pay toll tax or tender change after payment, the central government was forced to extend the suspension of toll tax for another 3 days.

Tirumala Hundi to accept old notes

Meanwhile the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam(TTD) managing the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati announced that there was no bar on pilgrims dropping the old currency in their hundi or donation box. They have recently opened a second hundi to facilitate such donations. Thank the Lord for small mercies.
