Young hero Raj Tarun is back again with his latest outing ‘Lover’. He is hoping that this film would break his flop streak at the box-office. Coming from Dil Raju’s banner, the film has hit the screens with decent expectations. So, let us go into the review.
Story
The film starts off as a normal love story where Raj (Raj Tarun) comes across a nurse Charitha (Riddhi Kumar) and falls for her. Though she refuses him initially, she slowly gets interested in Raj. Twist in the tale comes when Charitha finds herself in a problem which involves the hospital she works in and Raj’s brother (Rajeev Kanakala). How Raj solves the issue and win his love forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Raj Tarun impresses us in this film. His new looks and balanced act worked big time. He even excelled in the action episodes and is at home during the comedy scenes. Heroine Riddhi Kumar is a decent find and suits her role perfectly. Se looks good onscreen and performs decently.
Rajeev Kanakala gets a meaty role this time and he does complete justice to that. He proves his acting calibre once again with ‘Lover’. Actors like Subbaraj and Ajay did their bit required in negative roles. All the other actors were okay.
Technicians
Dil Raju’s nephew, Harshith Reddy had spent good amount on this film and it can be seen clearly in the visuals. Cinematography by Sameer Reddy is very good and he captured the film with beautiful visuals. Editing by Prawin Pudi is decent though the first half looks a bit dragged with not much of story going. Music is the main asset of this film and helps the film to a large extent. The songs were amazing and create a great mood for the film.
Coming to debutant director Anish Krishna, he succeeded in presenting a good entertainer. Though his story lacked freshness, his treatment is good and the handling of second half is done in an impressive manner. He could have tightened the screenplay during the first half.
Analysis
‘Lover’ doesn’t have a novel script but the story telling is decent as doesn’t bore the audience much. Songs are film’s biggest strength and their placement too is good. The chemistry between the lead pair is decent and the cond half too runs on an impressive note.
But, the climax looked outright silly and a bit hurried. Also, the comedy portions weren’t adequate and one could sense a shortage of entertainment factor in this film. The screenplay in okay in the first half while it is good in the second half except for the climax portions.
Conclusions
‘Lover’ is definitely a good film from Raj Tarun compared to his previous outings. Good songs, decent first half, nice chemistry and interesting 15-20 minutes in the second half are its major plus points. Also, the film is well aided by its technical team. But lack of good entertainment, routine story and hurried climax work against the film. One the whole, ‘Lover’ is a one time watch for a good time pass this weekend.
