Nilofer hospital superintendent and RMO transferred

Even as the Collector’s inquiry into the maternal deaths at Nilofer is on , the government decided to transfer the superintendent C. Suresh Kumar and RMO K. Usha Rani and appointed the superintendent of Government Maternity Hospital, Sultan Bazar, Dr Shailaja as superintendent of Niloufer Hospital.

Meanwhile the District collector of Hyderabad, Rahul Bhojja, is entrusted with the inquiry. The findings are not known but the move of the government indicates that someone had to take the blame for the gross negligence of management in the busy hospital.

DME justifies Gynaecologist’s appointment as Superintendent

Allaying criticism of appointment of Dr Shailaja,a Gynaecologist as Superintendent of a mainly Paediatric hospital, Dr. M. Ramani, the Director of Medical Education said, “A gynaecologist has been appointed to boost the morale of the hospital’s gynaecologists and aid in the inquiry. Understanding the causes for deaths and restoring faith among patients is essential for us.”
