After a successful outing with ‘Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada’, director VI Anand is back with another interesting film ‘Okka Kshanam’ based on the concept of parallel lives. He teamed up Mega hero Allu Sirish and bubbly actress Surabhi for this flick. After some interesting trailers, the film is released today, Let us see have a look at it.
Story
Jeeva (Sirish) is a youngster who is in love with Jo (Surabhi). While everything is going fine, they spot another couple (Srinivas Avasarala and Seerat Kapoor). Interestingly, both their lives run on the same line.
Then they get to know about this parallel life concept and one-day Seerat Kapoor gets killed suspiciously. So, the rest of the story is all about what happens to Jo? What will Jeeva do to save her?
Performances
Allu Sirish does an impressive job in ‘Okka Kshanam’. He had improved a lot compared to his earlier films and his effort could be seen in few emotional scenes.
Surabhi looks pretty and does a decent job as far as acting is concerned. Srinivas Avasarala gets a meaty role and proves his mettle once again. Seerat Kapoor is fine and both share a good rapport onscreen. Comedians Praveen and Satya were adequate and generated few laughs here and there. The remaining cast did their part required.
Technicians
Music by Mani Sharma is decent but he shows his class in the background score department which elevated the film to a whole new level. Cinematography by Shyam K Naidu is very good and gels with the mood of the film. Editing by Chota K Naidu is slick and the short runtime is a huge asset. The production values are adequate.
Director VI Anand came up with an interesting concept and mostly succeeded in convincing the audience. His direction was very good as he took what is required from the actors. Had he taken some extra care in the second half and tightened the film a bit without any drag it would have been a lot better.
Analysis
After a slow start, ‘Okka Kshanam’ picks up pace and gets very interesting towards the interval. The interval bang raises curiosity as well as the expectations over the second half.
Post interval, the film runs very interestingly but dips slightly towards the end because of the slow pace and routine climax. Also, the comedy portions were executed properly and the film suffers due to lack of adequate entertainment.
Conclusion
On the whole, ‘Okka Kshanam’ is a well-made film with interesting narration and good performances from its lead cast. If you could ignore some dull moments and typical climax, it promises you a decent watch this New Year weekend.
