Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has put on hold the proposal to cancel the contract works awarded to his party leader owned Transstroy company for the construction of the prestigious Polavaram project.

According to reports, initially, the government decided to scrap the contract agreement following the anomalies came to light in awarding contract works in the study conducted by the Centre recently. However, Chandrababu managed to continue the agreement and he tried to give the contract to the other big company. But that company refused to work under the Transstroy company. It is learnt that, the CM is planning to award sub contracts to other companies to protect the Transstroy company.

Under this circumstances, officials said that the deadline set by government to complete the project by 2018 will not be realized. The project would have been completed if the centre takes up the works as a national project.
