Is Lord Venkateswara a Kamma?

Does God, the almighty, have a caste? Yes, if you are actor-TDP MP Murali Mohan. The other day, he termed Lord Venkateswara as ‘Venkateswara Chowdary.’ He said the BJP could not get absolute majority in Karnataka only because of ‘Venkateswara Chowdary.’ The video has now gone viral.

Putting Chowdary tag, associated with Kamma caste, to Lord Venkateswara is sheer casteism and smacks of zingoism, say devotees. Murali Mohan himself is a Chowdary and using this epithet for the Lord shows castiest bias, say critics. Even TDP leaders are decrying these comments and are saying that this could prove counterproductive for the party as Lord is above caste, creed an community.

The TDP is already mired in problems over the mismanagement in the TTD and the serious allegations of misappropriation leveled by ousted chief priest Ramana Deekshatulu.
