Former HC Justice Karnan launches new party

Former Calcutta High Court Justice C.S. Karnan, launched the Anti Corruption Dynamic Party (ACDP) in Kolkata on Wednesday. He stated that his party will take part in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2019. Mr.Karnan although the party’s founding president said that he would not contest in the elections but will only campaign for his party. He stated that they have approached the Election Commission for registation.

Karnan, formerly of Calcutta High Court was jailed by the Supreme Court for contempt of the court after he accused senior judges of corruption. He was released from Kolkata’s Presidency jail after serving a sentence of six months imprisonment. This was his first public statement after his release.
Mr.Karnan, a Dalit, said atrocities were being perpetrated regularly on minorities such as Dalits, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and Parsis across the country. He urged the upper castes to protect the interest of minorities and Dalits ‘ since they were the weaker sections of the society’. “All the state machineries and the central government should protect the interests of minorities and Dalits, which is the paramount duty of the respective governments,” he said.
“The Anti Corruption Dynamic Party will be a national party,” Mr.Karnan told journalists. “We will field women candidates from all the seats. Men will also get posts in the party.” he also stated that they have yet to decide on the number of seats but only women candidates will be nominated for contesting.
