YSR Congress Party leader Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, who will be the party’s nominee for the Rajya Sabha, has filed his nomination for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections.
Accompanied by YSRCP senior leaders including Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Alla Ramakrishna Redd and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, he filed the papers in Amaravati.
Speaking on the occasion, Vemireddy heaped praises on YS Jagan saying the latter emerged as strong leader in Andhra Pradesh and he will be elected as CM in the next elections.
The YSRCP has enough number to win the seat. But the YSRCP leaders alleged that the TDP has been trying to poach more of its MLAs before the elections.
“The TDP is trying to lure some of our legislators by offering money. However, some of those who defected to the ruling party are ready for ‘ghar wapsi’. About six of them are in talks with us to return. It might be noted that even the 22 who allegedly defected are still officially with the YSRCP. Their defections have not been announced officially,” said V Vijay Sai Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP and YSRCP’s general secretary.
