The union Finance Ministry clarified it is not possible to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh and made it clear that the centre will extend only special package as committed by it earlier.

The meeting between AP government delegation led by State Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and union Finance minister Arun Jaitley lasted for hours in new Delhi. However, it did not yield any positive results towards fulfilling the aspiration of the Andhra people who have been fighting for special status .

The ministry told the state delegation that centre has given Rs 12,500 crore to AP but the government did not submit utilisation certificates for the last four years. The TDP leaders were stunned after receiving such strong response from the centre on their demands.
