The much-awaited movie of the year, ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ is finally out. Coming from the powerful combination of Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram Srinivas, this film is carrying humongous expectations on its shoulders. With fans and film lovers expecting the film to be nothing short of a blockbuster, let us see what they offered.
Story
Abhishekta Bhargav (Pawan Kalyan), who brought up with a simple life style, should prove himself as the original heir to billionaire Vinda Bhargav (Boman Irani) and his stepmother Indrani (Kushboo) to save his company and family from the enemies. In this process, he needs to find out the murderer of his father and brother too.
How does he prove himself as the heir? Who are the other people involved in this process forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Pawan Kalyan is in full-form. The energy that went missing in his previous films is back this time. He carries the entire film on his shoulders. Be it comedy or romance or heroism, he does them in his inimitable style. Fans are surely going to enjoy his performance in this milestone film. His styling looked good too.
Keerthy Suresh and Anu Emanuel looked gorgeous onscreen and did what is required from them. They have nothing much to do in this film. Seasoned artists like Boman Irani and Kushboo were good and added a lot of weight to the proceedings.
Rao Ramesh and Murali Sharma provided entertainment along with Vennela Kishore and few others. The film consists of a huge star cast but their screen presence is limited. All of them did their part.
Technicians
‘Agnyaathavaasi’ is a technically rich film. Cinematography by Manikandan is the major asset of the film and each frame looked like a painting. The visuals look super cool. Music by Anirudh Ravichandran is decent but the placement of the songs was abrupt. His background score is fine. Art direction is superb. Though editing is decent, the narration is very slow with a lot of dragging. He should have taken more care in the first half. Action sequences were well designed. Production values are top notch as the makers have spent a bomb on this film. The film looked rich right from the word go.
Writer-director Trivikram Srinivas does a mediocre job this time. Though he presents Pawan in a perfect manner, the proceedings were too slow. His direction is good but it is his screenplay that fails this time and leaves a lot to be desired. Trivikram mark dialogues can be heard here and there.
Analysis
The film begins on a serious note followed by a powerful entry of Pawan. The film looked interesting in the first 20 minutes but doesn’t move forward till interval. The interval portion is good and engages the audience. Post interval, the film moves at brisk pace. Though some mediocre scenes tests your patience at times, second half is definitely better that the first half. The climax is emotional and film ends on a funny note. On the whole, the film falls short of the expectations.
As expected the film has similarities with ‘Largo Winch’ but Trivikram made changes to suit our style and tried to make a perfect commercial flick. But, he messes up things a bit. Though the plot was novel, the narration takes a severe beating with entertainment oriented scenes taking the front seat. The comedy portions evoked few laughs though they were not a complete laughter riot. Also, the romantic track looked out of place and doesn’t impress the viewers this time.
Though he completely utilized Pawan, ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ could be stated as Trivikram’s weakest film till date both in terms of writing and direction.
Conclusion
The hit combination of Pawan-Trivikram entertain you partly this time. Still, you can enjoy this film this festive season. But, don’t go expecting a ‘Jalsa’ or an ‘Attarintiki Daredi’. With huge hype and Pawan Kalyan’s one man show, this film is sure to run with packed houses this weekend. But, you need to wait for some more time to know the fate of this film
