Assuring women groups that justice would be done and their empowerment would take the intended course in their governance, YSR Congress President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that the Chandrababu Naidu governance has spelt doom for the economic liberty of women during the past 3.5 years.

Addressing a meeting of women groups here as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, here on Monday, he said, ‘women had undergone distress after Chandrababu Naidu went back on his promise of the total waiver of loans of self-help groups and made them defaulters depriving them of further credit. The meagre amount he had given was not sufficient for the interest component itself.

Things would change in the days to come as Chandrababu Naidu himself had said on a couple of occasions that elections would be held in October and in such an eventuality change is imminent, he said.

Chandrababu Naidu had went back on many of his promises and he has promised to do away with the belt shops but went back on the word and the family disturbances continue with the alcoholics going berserk. Our government will assure that the women empowerment would get its true meaning in letter and spirit, he said.

While TDP has went back on its manifesto, our manifesto will provide welfare measures to all sections of people and women would be given their due place in the society.

Under the Amma Vodi scheme, Rs 15,000 would be credited directly to the mother’s bank account for sending her two children to school and will completely reimburse the fees for professional courses besides providing Rs 20, 000 towards hostel expenses. Pension would be increased to Rs 2,000 and the age eligibility to backward classes and minorities would be reduced to 45, he said.

We will setup village secretariats and ensure that everyone will own a house and provide free power up to 200 units, he said.

He asked the police not to create any hurdles to the women who are coming to the meeting as they have every right to tell their plight to the Leader of Opposition.
