Major drug scandal in Andhra Pradesh!

If a private medical shop sells spurious drugs, he gets arrested. If someone makes them, he would land behind the bar. But, what if the Government itself promotes low quality medicines and distributes it to the government hospitals, where the patients from the poor background come? This exactly is happening in Andhra Pradesh. What more? instead of acting against the culprit, the government is trying to shield it. The reason? A powerful minister is pushing the case of the low quality medicine makers.

The AP Government purchases medicines and other material worth Rs 15000 crore every year through AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC). These medicines are supplied to all hospitals in the state. The MD of this corporation is a close relative of Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrsihnudu. He chose low quality Vitamin ‘A’ syrup from Surise International Labs for the supply of the medicines.

On a complaint, the Drug Control Authority examined them and found them to be useless. The medicines are low quality. Now, the Drug Control Authority is examining the reason for the supply of low quality drugs. It is also testing other medicines as a precautionary measure. When last heard, the Government is trying hard to suppress the news and is trying to hush up the case.
