Poll campaign and road shows taken up by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the bye election bound Nandyal Assembly constituency drew lukewarm response. People’s attendance in the Chandrababu meetings is very thin.
The local leaders are struggling hard to mobilize people by luring them with money. People are offered Rs 300 and the students are given Rs 150 to attend the meetings and road shows. Rs 50 to Rs 100 is being paid additionally to people who clapped and whistled in the road shows. People were also provided food and liquor ensuring them to stay till the end of the meeting.
Chandrababu’s road shows also caused traffic jams in Nadyal towns. As a result, many 108 ambulances carrying patients to the hospitals on emergency stranded in the crowd In some cases, the patients were shifted to hospitals by autos as the ambulances stuck on busy roads.
