Armed gunmen and suicide bombers have attacked the Iran parliament and the shrine of Khomeini, the founder of the Iranian republic. Several people are believed to be killed with many more injured.
Both attacks occurred simultaneously and appear to be co-ordinated. Iranian rolling news channel IRINN said seven or eight people had been injured at the parliament by four attackers.
Iran has not seen similar attack on urban areas and this was a first in its coordinated planning and execution.
Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
