Hyderabad engineer killed in US in hate crime

Srinivas Kuchibhotla, was shot dead by a US navy veteran in a hate crime, which has become increasingly common since Trump won the Presidential elections. The 32 year–old youngster had studied engineering from JNTU,Hyderabad,went to the US (like numerous others) and did his master’s in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of Texas and took a job at Garmin, Kansas. Alok Madasani, another engineer from Hyderabad, who was with him at the time, was injured in the shooting.

“Get out of my country”-shouted the killer

The alleged culprit Adam Purinton, a white American, was arrested after the police launched a man-hunt for him. He was found drinking at a nearby bar around five hours after the shooting.

Jay Kansara of the Hindu American Foundation said in a statement, “We call upon the US Department of Justice and local law enforcement to investigate this murder as what it is, a hate crime. Anything less will be an injustice to the victims and their families.”
