Ever since Nara Lokesh has been elevated to the post of General Secretary for TDP National Committee, speculations have been rife that he would be inducted into Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet.
Now latest reports indicate that Chandrababu is contemplating to make Lokesh as MLC and likely to take him into his cabinet during cabinet reshuffle. Giving credence to the rumours, a Telugu paper, which is supporting the TDP, published a story stating that Nara Lokesh is all set to contest in the ensuing MLC polls.
Elections to 22 MLC seats in AP will be held either in February or March 2017. While seven members are to be elected under MLAs quota. As per the MLAs strength, the TDP will be winning six seats and YSRCP one seat. Lokesh likely to get elected under MLAs quota. Later, Babu will go for cabinet expansion to accommodate Lokesh.
If Lokesh has to contest as MLA, one MLA has to resign. Alredy Palamaneru MLA Amaranath Reddy came forward to resign. But it would send wrong signals as many may question Chandrababu that as to why the other turncoat MLAs are not resigning. So, the TDP high command is considering to make Lokesh as MLC.
