TDP MLA Revant Reddy, who grew into an ‘Eminent Politician’ from Telangana region, particularly after the “Note for Vote” scandal, is said to be packing a bombshell for his Party’s Supremo Chandrababu Naidu. Those who side with the mercurial MLA argue that it’s Chandrababu who is responsible for this rather than Revant himself. They also say that, Revant is unhappy and annoyed at not being made the President of Telangana State Unit of TDP. (It’s a different story that recently he had been made the working president of TTDP.)
Rubbing salt into red wound, Babu is reportedly tilting toward those heavyweights of TTDP who favour getting former TDP leader and ex-Minister –above all Revant’s arch rival- Nagam Janardan Reddy into the Party. Revant is naturally irritated over this. He is said to be looking at this as a part of an evil-design against his growth in TDP in particular and Telangana in general. Nagam hails from the same district from which Revant also hails. Both of them belong to the same community. Even during his long habitation in the TDP, Nagam was never friends with Revant. With this back-drop, one can hardly expect Revant welcoming Nagam into TTDP. But, Chandrababu Naidu is notorious for counterpoising against strongmen of his Party so that they would take care of each other. In the ‘Note for Vote’ case also, Babu might not have liked Revant being projected as a martyr, which is larger than his worth. That must have influenced him in favour of Nagam rejoining the Party.
In such a case, none can expect Revant continuing in TTDP anymore. Reports have been appearing in the media that he is trying hard to find his own way to the Congress camp. He being a Reddy, it might not be much difficult for him to get an entry pass into Telangana Congress. And, his cordial relations with the Congressmen are also no secret. It’s a known fact that he could get large amounts of funds released for his constituency during the Congress rule using his good offices with them. If at all Nagam joins TTDP, Revant’s exit from the Party is sure to happen. Though not immediately, by the time of the 2019 polls, one may find Revant relaxing under the shade of the Tricoloured!
